Bonaire has a long marine history, with master mariners for many trading and military vessels having originated on Bonaire. Some of that heritage can surely be attributed to one of Bonaire’s oldest traditions – fishing. Bonaire’s waters are rich with life, and even richer then than now, and Bonairean fishermen in row boats or small sailing fishing boats would and still catch Marlin, Wahoo, Tuna, and Dorado (Mahi-Mahi).
