Playa Frans is the northern-most private living area on the west coast of Bonaire, and as such closest to the rough but life filled waters at the northern point of Bonaire. Fishing is a daily routine for the people who launch their vessels from Playa Frans’ sandy shores, oft bringing back game fish for both their own tables and for consumption in local restaurants. Bonairean fishermen still use traditional hand lines to catch their fish, and disdain the large nets and long lines which commercial fishing fleets use.
