Towards Heaven by Jake Richter
About the image
Perhaps the most glorious vantage point on Bonaire is Seru Largu (and known by various other similar spellings) – from where one can see all of southern Bonaire – ranging from nearby Republiek to Hato, Kralendijk, the airport, Belnem, and then on to the Salt Pans, Sorobon, Lac, and all places in between.
In 2000, a local community and church effort raised funds to build this grand monument at Seru Largu, but all too often, people are so entranced by the view of the island that they fail to look up and see the sky and the great beyond that this monument points towards. And at dusk with a clear blue sky, the shadows and reflections are particularly captivating.
