It dangles a lure, much like a fishing line with a bit of bait, from its head, and when a small fish takes the fake bait, the frogfish swallows it whole with amazing speed. It is of a fish called a Longlure Frogfish – a master of camouflage – which spends most of its time looking like a sponge. It dangles a lure, much like a fishing line with a bit of bait, from its head, and when a small fish takes the fake bait, the frogfish swallows it whole with amazing speed. Frogfish are one of the true fish “prizes” divers visiting Bonaire’s reefs vie to see.
