Rincon Rhythm- Print

Details

Rincon Rhythm by Jake Richter
Bonaireís Rincon Day is always a merry and colorful time, and one of the highlights are the folkloric dances and presentations. I tried to capture the bright colors and festive atmosphere in my digital painting of a pair of dancers who are obviously enjoying themselves as much as those of us watching them.

Salty Twilight - Print

Details

by Jake Richter

This image is from a photograph of the salt mounds at the Cargill Salt Works in the southern part of the island of Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean. The photograph was taken after sunset on a somewhat cloudy day, when the reflection of the sunís last rays created a luscious pink sky, further shading the normally white salt mounds with rosy color. Salt is Bonaireís number one export, and is derived by filling large ďpondsĒ with sea water and then letting the sunís heat evaporate the water, leaving salt behind. It takes 50 tons of sea water to produce one ton of salt. Bonaireís salt is used primarily in chemical processes, but some enterprising Bonaire-based businesses also offer fragranced Bonaire salt as a bath additive.

Limited Edition Prints available in 3 sizes.

Santa on Ice - Print

Details

by Jake Richter

About the image
One does not often get to spend time with Santa Claus, but one winter day in New York City, at Rockefeller Center, I managed to do just that. As one might expect, he glided serenely across the ice on his skates, always ready with a helpful hand and friendly word. While he was on the ice, he seemed to glow and all else around him faded in comparison.

Shades of Growth - Print

Details

Shades of Growth by Jake Richter
Bonaireís nature offers stark, thorny beauty, and the agave plant is a brilliant example. The depth offered both by focus and contrast in this image highlights how the agave grew and then grew again, with the thorns providing, at the same time, both a threat and subtle sensuality.

Shining Flag - Print

About the image
It was national Firefighterís Day while I was in Washington, D.C. one fall day, and the Washington Monument was ringed by U.S. flags at half mast, with beautiful clear, crisp skies. The images from that day inspired this one of the sun shining through an American flag.
